In 2014 we designed a simple circuit board to teach young minds about circuit boards and how to solder components to circuit boards.  The board is a simple device that plays a song through a piezo buzzer when the button is pressed.  Since then, we have helped over 1,600 makers age 3-70 learn how to solder and program a PCB.

We created this page so you can download all of the files for the board, including:

  • PCB Gerber Files
  • Bill of Materials
  • Schematic
  • Firmware code

This is a comprehensive list of all the files that an engineer needs to create in order to manufacture the circuit board.  The code is based on an Instructable project which can be found at http://www.instructables.com/id/Musical-Greeting-Card/.  As the board uses a Microchip PIC processor, anybody with a Microchip programmer can modify the code and create their own songs to load onto the PCB.  Feel free to use any of the files included to improve upon our design.  All we ask is that you send us your modifications so we can share them with the Maker community through this web site.
